I carried out. This was the worst fish that I have ever gotten from Kingfish. I'm sorry but it was. I guess this is why the cashier didn't show me what was inside the box. Next time I will look before I leave.
I ordered 10 coconut shrimp and 10 shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was old, some of it yellow, dry, came out on a plate looked terrible and tasted the very same as it looked AWFUL !!!!! I wasn't going to complain but our waitress ask if the food was good . So I told her the shrimp wasn't anything good about it. She wanted to make it right I told her it was ok and I was fine. I said well I will take a piece of fish. Long story short the "manager" was going to charge me another $7.99 . I thought you've got to be kidding me?!?!?!?!?! No she wasn't!!! IT will be quite sometime before I return. I have enjoyed King Fish many times. This time WOW!!! Also this GAL that was the "manager" seated a couple that came in quite SOMETIME after us and she seated them ahead of us again IT was like WHAT??????? and we told her first available outside, inside or bar.

One of the very few places I know where you can get grilled and boiled fish without all of the calories. Also their Alaskan scrod baskets are really a good deal and enough for two people. JR
the fish used to be thick (3/4") or better and was tender and flaky. Lately, it is at best 1/2" thick and dried out after frying. I could get this quality at captain d's for a lot less money. We travel 200 miles to see our daughter and son, and always stop at kingfish when in town. I remember kneeling on the back seat of my parents car and using the rear window shelp as my dining table when we went to the upper river road location. No dining in, only car hop service with a tray on the car door. If this is the way it is, please offer a entre that includes a thick cut fish filet
The food was fresh and delicious - was still hot when I got it home (had carry out). The amount of good surprises me as well - more than enough for the 3 of us and had left overs for the next day. The person in the carry out part was polite and took excellent care of me.

Disappointed in the price and taste of the $2.25 thimble full of slaw ordered at On the Rocks. Wasn't the same recipe as served upstairs, so we didn't even eat it. Should have been at least 3-4 times the size for the price we paid. Why is it different than upstairs? The fish was the same. Also, we asked what the Tobacco Onions (I think that's what they were called) and the waitress said they were onion petals. They were nothing close to onion petals. They were super thinly sliced pieces of onion that was fried to a crisp, almost burnt. Won't break eating at On The Rocks again. Will get a carryout upstairs and walk downstairs to eat. I am rating the quality of the food a 2 only because the fish was good.

Round tables together for 10 people ..did not work very well
I didn’t care for the table set up. It’s hard to sit comfortably at two round tables together. But the food and service were both good.
Food is excellent and comes out all at same time so no one has to watch while another eats. Wednesday is $3,25 for all craft beers Yuengling is $2 pints.
If you're looking for a variety of good seafood then Kingfish has it. The large portion of flaky whitefish compares to none.

Only one bartender was taking care of everyone at the bar (about 15 people), and everyone at the tables in the bar, about 10 people, plus filling all of the alcoholic drinks for the whole restaurant, plus had to run back and forth to the kitchen to get food orders for people in the bar. He ran out of Miller Lite on tap, but didn't have time to change it out. One of the managers came to try and help, but she had drinks returned by patrons that were not made right. She got into an argument with one of the waitresses and made her cry. We waited a long time for everything, but we were patient since we both were involved at one time with managing food and beverage and events at a local golf club. We witnessed two tables get up and leave during all this, without ordering. After it all calmed down we talked to the manager and bartender. Told the mgr that we don't understand why there isn't a food runner for the bartender. There was an employee who we saw standing against the wall for at least 30 minutes without doing anything. She was even yawning. I asked the mgr why she couldn't be the runner for the bartender. I was told because she is only 15. The whole experience was a disaster, but the food was great.

The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because our waitress was very busy taking care of many tables but remained pleasant. The food is ALL fried and honestly worse than Long John Silvers at three times the price. Every piece of fried fish looks exactly the same. The two fish tacos were VERY small and had the same fried fish strips as my scrod sandwich which came with cold frozen crinkle cut fries and two slices of the cheap wheat bread that is not even made with whole wheat flour. Will not return. Will find another place to eat on the Ohio River.

We were seated in the bar which was grossly understaffed. Service was very slow and non-existent at times. Dining took about 1 1/2 hours
Delicious hush puppies. Salad was crisp and tasty. Fish is good. Shrimp LOOK great but are practically tasteless. Why? I eat shrimp all the time and this is the second or third time the shrimp there just don't taste like shrimp. Weirdly, the few times I've had their popcorn shrimp they were really good.

Been going to King Fish for quite awhile now. The atmosphere is still good down along the river. However our server forgot 1 of our orders so it came out a few minutes late. I ordered ranch dressing on my salad and received blue cheese, had to be replaced. Server appeared under the influence of something and like not totally invested in serving us. Then I felt the food size portions were very small compared to the price you paid. Overall it was an sub par experience.
Service was very good and food was delicious but piece of fish was pretty small for $14 for a piece of fish and 2 sides. Used to receive a much larger piece of fish.
Portions size was smaller than last time we were there. Food was still very good, we were just disappointed when we ran out. Seemed to have more last time.
It was a carry-out order. I called ahead to see if a certain item was still on the menu. I was told it was. I called back again once I had everyone else's order and ask again about the availability of the dinner and again I was told they did have the item that I wanted. When we went to pick up the order not only we're all three dinners Incorrect and incomplete but I was told that they no longer carry the specific item that I had asked about twice. This being a special occasion for us I was very disappointed especially since I have a very limited diet. Had I been been given the correct information to begin with we could have gone somewhere where our celebration would have included something I could look forward to eating. We do not normally spend this much money on one meal and we will not be taking a chance at this Kingfish again.

Our order was lost, and it took 45 minutes to get our food, and when they brought it out it was wrong. Once corrected, the food was very good.

Just fair today. Charged for extra sauce without being told. Small thing but not typical.
The food was delicious. The view of the river and the Louisville skyline was beautiful and the service couldn't have been better. Would definitely recommend eating at this restaurant.

Our meao was paid for by the church. It was a church event. I don't know how much it was. There were close to 20 people.

The restaurant has steadily gone down hill in the past 10 years. The prices have gone way up and the quality has gone way down. This was one of our favorite restaurants but now I don't think we will be back. The service was not very good as well.
When trying to use my certificates (I used 2) the check had to be split to accommodate this which was nice that they would do this but it took 15 minutes after taking my certificate information and credit card for the manager to come out of the office to split it up.

It's about a four hour drive to the KingFish from home, but I keep coming back. I've been enjoying this place since childhood.
My husbands rolled oyster was not done when he got half way through. He told the waitress about it and she ask could she get him another one. He said no he didn't want to chance it. She said that they wouldn't be able to take anything off of our bill since they already took off our restaurant.com coupon. But she would let the manager know and see if there was anything they could do. The manager never came to our table to apologize to my husband or offer him a refund . I think that was very rude and the least they could have done was to give him a gift card or not changed us for our bill. They should have done something.

Long wait time with many tables sitting unused. Said they had a lot of parties & big groups that night. To me, that says understaffed! Food was good, as usual. We had to go back in 3 times to get our whole order. no sauces, silverware and by the time we got our whole meal it was cold. the guy at carry out counter walked away 4 times to look for things that another lady went ahead and got us the coleslaw was only half full this list can go on. we ordered our drinks outside and had to send them back 3 times to get the correct drinks. not impressed.

I go to KingFish once a year usually. Unfortunately, I feel like there is nothing that special. I feel like I could get comparable quality of food at a fast food restaurant.

Poor service, charged for items not ordered, long wait times to be seated (wasn’t busy at 3:00pm), waited 1 & 1/2 hour’s for food after order, waited 30 minutes for check. Also, A/C was working poorly...probably 85 degrees in restaurant on 100 degree day. Horrible experience for Fathers Day!
I felt sorry for the employees. They were all but a constant run trying to serve eveyone and some customers were rude to them because they had to wait a litle while. Fathers day crowd.

The server seemed to have an attitude when she first took our order. After food was brought (which was in a timely manner) she never returned to check on how the meal was or if we needed anything else. Bad service appears to be a trend no matter where you go to eat anymore.

Asked the host for one of the available window seats. He sat us four rows back from the window and said we had a seat with a 'view'. Waited a long time for service. Waited a long time for our food. Other server turned over two tables and we weren't finished yet. Waited a long time for our bill and a long time to pay our bill. Dinner shrimp looked like salad shrimp.

The food was excellent and the service was good also. It took about 15 minutes to get our bill due to the manager having to okay the restaurant.com coupon. Other than that, the whole dining experience went well.
Slow to get drinks. Waited for 20 to 30 minutes for our meal. Slaw was served before meal to one person in the party and I had to ask for my slaw when the waiter finally came back with our meal to ask for my slaw. We have always enjoyed the food and service at this location but it was totally lacking on this experience. We were celebrating a birthday.

Our server was very nice and competent. Our baked potatoes were yellowish. We asked if they had any white and fluffy ones, and our server brought us some. Actually, those yellowish looking potatoes should have never left the kitchen. Our food was good and we both enjoyed them.

Our fish & shrimp was delicious! We had a window table overlooking the Ohio River. We had a lovely afternoon & we were there in time to order off the lunch menu.

Although a busy Sunday after church as well as graduations, I was promptly seated and waited upon. I had the fried mushrooms with a horseradish dipping sauce for an appetizer; plenty to nibble on as well as bring home. The hush puppies were fried up nice. And my entree of panko-crusted cod pieces, shrimp in the bang bang shrimp (for a bit of oomph), fries and slaw was fixed well with enough to bring home. My servers were efficient and quite nice. Overall a great meal.

Our poor rating is not because of the food, but because of the bad carryout experience. They were out of drink carriers and kids for the gallons of tea we ordered. They didn't tell us until we'd paid and we're waiting the seven minutes for them to make the tea. Then as she handed us the jug she told us they're out of lids. It very difficult to transport a gallon of uncapped tea.

Our waitress was AMAZING! we had a big party(7) but she handled our table by herself. Didn't miss a thing. Was constantly helping us, refilling drinks, refilling complimentary hush puppies, getting whatever we needed. She was amazing! Great food, took home plenty of leftovers. Amazing views. Huge side salads with plenty of dressing. Highly recommend.

I started to good back in and complain but wasnt comfortable about letting them know.
The wait time for a table was in excess of 45 minutes and when we were seated, we saw that there were many empty tables especially in the back room where we were seated. The food was less than warm and had to request fresh onion rings.
I would've given a better rating, but when were asked to leave as soon as we've signed our check because they need the table, that left a bad impression.

The waitress was great but the food was the worst I have ever experienced in a restaurant. All the food tasted like it was cooked and sat around for over an hour. And the shrimp on top of being cold was over cooked (when it was cooked earlier in the day) and very dry and chewy. The waitress made a comment about the Mac and cheese looking so bad that she wouldn't feed it to her dog.

I had visited King Fish many years ago (over 25!) with my parents when we would travel through Louisville. I enjoyed this trip as much as they did "back in the day." The clams were especially good!

Received a dirty fork and showed to server then she didn't remember to bring me a fork I had to go get my own at the entry and hostess area. We didn't receive any hush puppies with of platter. I requested my catfish to be substituted with something different she didn't do that. She dropped the shrimp off the platter.

Beginning with the hostess the greeting was very friendly. Tiffany the waitress did an outstanding job making us feel welcome and smile with her recommendations to my wife who never seems to be able to decide! Then the food was delivered and it was great!
It was very warm with the sun beating thru the windows. All of the overhead lights were on but not needed as it was very bright from the sun. The lights only made it hotter and were not necessary. Perhaps a fan being on would have improved the air quality.

We were not happy with out waitress. She was never around, and we ran out of drinks and took her forever to bring our check.
We had to wait 15 minutes before our server came to our table. The hostess sat 3 tables for him at one time. Once he came to our table, he took very good care of us. All 4 of us ordered a fish basket with onion rings. I had (5) 2 1/2" rings, which I thought was a little smaller than normal, as was the piece of fish. But, everything was very good. We all enjoyed our meals.

The restaurant is beautiful with a gorgeous view of the river. If the food was better, they would have our return business. The food was edible, but not good or memorable. It is nothing like real, fresh seafood that you get close to a beach. The crab queso that our waiter recommended was pretty bad to come with such high regard from him. It tasted like straight velveeta, and looked to have shredded imitation crab in it, though you could taste no crab at all. I love cheese, but this was just too thick and way too cheesy. Definitely not good. I ordered grilled scallops with my combo, and was never told they'd be broiled, which would have been ok, except for they were tough and over cooked. Much like eating rubber bouncy balls. We did however like the tarter sauce pretty well, and the hushpuppies. Other than that, I could not recommend this to a friend, since it's overpriced for what you get. They need to hire some real seafood chefs in my opinion. oh but our server was exceptionally nice and friendly. Not his fault at all.

The service was not good. Server was not efficient and had a terrible attitude. Order was wrong 5 different times. Wrong drinks, dressings on salads, forget soup, wrong sides and never cared to check back. Also acted like the tarter sauce was coming out of her pocket when she was asked to bring another to the table.
The fish was very thin and dried out. The fries were way over salted. I don't know why this happened. This was very unsual for Kingfish.

Our food was good, but the service was pretty sad. Heather took our order and served it, and dropped our check off without saying a word. She never asked if we needed anything else. My spouse had shrimp and fish with no cocktail sauce to eat with it. We never saw her in the dining room again to ask for some until we were about ready to leave. There was another server in the dining room but she was at the other end. The table next to us received an apology from her and from the manager for her ignoring them. They had to go to the hostess to ask for tarter sauce. Pretty sad.

Overall, the food was good. I think King Fish is getting a little skimpy on their portions. My husband bought fish, pan fried oysters & shrimp. He used to get a full plate of food, but there were only about 6 small oysters. And there wasn't even a hush puppy with either of our entrees. I had to ask for one. Not exactly glowing reviews like I used to give.

We seldom go to this location due to the bridge construction but had a restaurant.com coupon. The location is great, when you can get there and the service is always great but the food is hit or miss. The food was not good - slaw was chunky, not shredded well; fish so heavily breaded, as were the onion rings it fell off and was hard. Hush puppies were great and hot. I always order just basic whitefish platter but they did not do this well at all. Won't stop me from going to kingfish, just maybe not this one intentionally.

The food is always good and the service great too. Live about 50 miles away from Kingfish, but try to make a stop there as often as possible.
I like it because it has a good atmosphere. You can also look out and view the Ohio River while you eat.
When we walked in, we could see that the restaurant has lots of windows, so every seat could look out on the river. It has a beautiful view.
We sat outside to enjoy the river. The service was not as good as it normally is when we sit inside.

We didnt dispute the $2-3 extra side charge because at that point we were just needing to leave due to having a child in our party. The food was not good and needed to be grilled like the menu said, it was saturated with paprika? Everyone in the party was dissatisfied with their food. The others ordered the Barge, just Yuck!

I ask her to ask manager and she said she knew he would say no but she would ask. We live 40 mins away I told her. She came back and manager took off coupon I put code on receipt and offered to write down phone #.

I used to get the Wharf platter and it was a pretty good deal. I didn't see that on the menu, so I ordered the scrod platter. I don't eat fries because of high cholesterol so the fries were a waste. I did eat a few but they were not done. Soft with hardly any brown to them.. The waiter was fine, and I was with family, so It wasn't a total loss

The cajun grilled whitefish is the best fish I have every eaten. It is very good. Kingfish always gives you food than you can eat. Our waiter was very funny but attentive to any request of the people in our party.

Lisa was fantastic. She was fast and got us everything we requested immediately. I had requested thick fish, she brought it, and asked if I was satisfied.

Not greasy for fried food.Overall experience downgraded and rated neutral overall because taste was bland for whitefish, catfish, fried shrimp, and scallops on the "Captain's Choice" menu option. Also, food temperature on many of the items only slightly warm.

Kingfish was very busy and we decided to eat in the bar area. Mistake. Only 1 person in the bar working and customers were leaving without being served. Eventually someone came over to help.

I can tell why the restaurant was hal empty while I was there. The waitress was extremely slow, we were there almost 10 minutes before we even were waited on. The food was lukewarm to cold. The macaronni and cheese was seasoned with some sort of hot spice. Unfortunately, this is how most of my experiences are at this restaurant, I keep asking myself why I continue to give King Fish a chance.

This restaurant on the river in Jeffersonville, Indiana is very good. From the time we walk in by the Hostess/Host to the waitress/waiter to the time we walkout, even the person who cleans the tables is very friendly. I would recommend friends to visit this location. Kingfish is a Louisville tradition. The quality of the whitefish does not seem to be as good as it was in the past. Perhaps a different type of whitefish has been sunstituted and it just doesnt taste as good, we still enjoyed our visit and table overlooking the Ohio River.
Our server was excellent....very professional and pleasant. Food was not up to par on this visit. We had to ask them to redo 1 fish sandwich and fries. Fries were ice cold when served. Server handled it perfectly.

We took my cousin out to eat at Kingfish on Sunday. Due to her health problems she could not have any fried foods so she got the broiled white fish, so all of ordered the broiled white fish. The fish was delicious and that will be the way we will continue to eat fish, not only is it healthier, but it tastes better.
Love Kingfish because it is a quiet place for dinner with friends. Food is always good. Service and Servers are great.
Too pricey for the quality of the food. My husband had the salmon special and he enjoyed it, but I had the broiled seafood platter and it was not that great. The food wasn't very hot temperture wise either when it was first served.

Food was good. It's always reliable, and we love sitting on the river. However, service was terrible. We sat with all the servers around us ignoring us for at least 15 minutes -- no drinks or anything. Apparently we got there at shift change, but that shouldn't have been our problem.

My family and I used to go to Kingfish on Bardstown Rd. until they closed.My son has been to this one in Jeffersonville,Ind. He always says it is great and good price so my hubby and I went today. Beautiful scene to look at the river. We asked for a table by the window and it was so calm and quiet. The food was outstanding and we are picky. I especially liked the broiled white fish and the greens and green beans. My husband has some kind of combo plate. We could not have had a better meal or better service anywhere. Thanks for trying hard to accommdate your customers.

I don't like your website b/c it doesn't give enough info on the nutrition facts on your food. You had nine items on your main course. But at the resturant you had so many more. Also I couldn't pull up your menu to see ahead of what I want to order before I get there.
ANYTIME I want fish I think of Kingfish and if I'll be near a location. The ONLY place I get Lobster tails is Kingfish because it is always the best.

Food was excellant...but that had to be some of the worst service ever. I usually leave at least a $5.00 to $10.00 tip and I left NOTHING.
I hadn't been to Kingfish for quite some time because I was not satisfied with the meals or service in the past. I must say it was a pleasant surprise for all 4 of my party to have such an exceptional meal like we were seerved today. Everything was deliscious and cooked to perfection. The only concern was the length of time it took to get our orders but considering each dish was freshly cooked it was worth the wait. We definitely will be back and all those negative responding folks should give it a try again. I'm glad we did!
Kingfish is great and always a treat for us! The only negative part of the experience was a family group who did not know how to deal with small children in a restaurant. Sad, for the children. :/

we were at Kingfish on Sat. evening that the Farm Machinery show was in town and it was packed, but the service was great. We at in the bar by the way and the bartender was excellent and very efficient.
I loved it! I was in Louisville from Florida and planned my day around a visit to Kingfish. As a former Louisvillian I have fond memories of the scrod served there.

We needed a table (as opposed to a booth) because a member of our party had a walker. They sat us a table by the window, which was a great view, but the sun was so bright that we could barely see and it got very warm.
The service was GREAT - the waitresses and waiters sang Happy Birthday to my 94 year old Mother - they were FANTASTIC!!!! Food was delicious. A wonderful birthday celebration. THANK YOU EVERYONE at KING FISH!!!!.

The main meal was good, but I got a salad for the side and all it was nothing but lettuce. Yeah gave gave dressing but who wants to eat a salad of just lettuce. I mean there wasn't any cheese, bacon, eggs, croutons, etc. There wasn't anything. I thing Kingfish can do a little better than that.

there were 2 errors on the bill, one was the price on the special of the day-it turns out the card on our table had the old price and the one beverage was incorrectly listed-undercharging us by $0.30. They thought one too much, one too little was OK. I didn't argue, I just paid the bill and left.

We love Kingfish and have been eating there on occasion for years. The certificate allows us to treat our family to a meal out at a great discount. However, I would like a larger serving of onion rings. They used to be twice as big. Food was excellent.

The only complaint that we had was, one meal was ordered with the combination of 2 meats, with one of the meats being scallops, when meal came out it only had a couple scallops and the waiter said he would be the rest in a few moments. The rest came and they were cold and tough.

The food was excellent and the view and overall look of the restaurant was very nice. We were so plesed with the total experience, we will certainly return. The food was so hot and good, excellent is all I can say, we enjoyed every morsel. We even brought some home with us.
The whitefish was very good but everything else was acceptable at best. I have heard many good things but I was not very impressed with our meals. No hard feelings, but it just wasn't all that good.

Calling the added 18 percent a service charge rather than a tip makes one wonder if the server gets charge.
The food was very good and not greasy. However, the draft beer was horrible. Tasted like dishsoap was in it or something. Next time will order bottled beer!

I have always enjoyed eating at Kingfish. But, with the mess with the economy, we are having to budget our money more carefully and can't eat out weekly as we used to. The fact that restaurant .com offers deals to Kingfish helps so much. It is the only restaurant deal I have purchased through them because I don't know some of the others as well, and am afraid to waste a "deal" on something we may not like. I have also purchased them for my son and his family to use. thank you.

Waitress was excellent and gave us undivided attention. Much different than our last visit, when we waited for 20minutes then left because we were ignored and never approached by any employee. This was about 2 weeks ago.

Kingfish has increased their prices to where we only choose to go when we have a discount or coupon available. We used to go there on a more regular basis but the meal we got has raised from about $8.99 to $11.49 in the past few years.

Drink refills were late, food came late, and server was forgetful and slow at speed of service.
The service was terrible! By the time we left, we had 8 cups on our table, none of the plates were ever taken away and I had to go hunt down the waitress to pay her, after 15 minutes of waiting. She only had 4 tables, from what we could tell, none of her guests were happy at all. The table next to us asked her for coffee 4 times when we were there. She still hadn't brought it by the time we left.
Took 35 minutes to cash out, which is crazy!!!

Kingfish used to be the best seafood in the area; however, they seem to have turned to frozen fish and rather drab side dishes. Hushpuppies are very good, tho. Even the desert seemed to be frozen pie from the store.
