Quantity was half of what I usually get.... may be because I used resturant.com gift certificate

Food is good. Decor is good. Friendly service with a smile on their face. Only issue is they don’t have a wash basin close by. They stopped giving hot towels after dinner (I think the management is trying to save money that way). They should reinstate hot towels to retain their reputation. If not as a default they should provide upon request.

I am a regular visitor to Akbar for the last 15 or more years. It was a good restaurant. Now the quality is dropped tremendously. Food is stale. Quantity is also reduced. Not giving wet towels or finger bowls after dinner and no mouth freshner. I think management is having troubles.

Dining at Akbar is always an exceptional experience. The service is nothing short of old world and the food is the best Indian food in an area where Indian food is dominate.

We used to visit Akbar Restaurant once a week. But lately due to travel and other reasons are not going that frequently. I noticed that much of the old staff has been replaced and the quality has gone down. They used to give hot wet paper napkins after dinner that they are not giving now. Yesterday an apatiser served was stale and smelly. Of course they replaced with some Other item including cutlery. Service is good

Added 18% SVC Charge, while there is no service. Its buffet, most of the restaurants do not charge. Plus tips separate.

The food was quite delicious overall and the atmosphere was delightful. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff remembered (even though it had been just a brief mention during a phone call earlier in the day) and brought out a scrumptious slice of chocolate mousse cake with a candle for the birthday girl and plates/forks for us to share without even being asked. Lastly, manager personally assisted us with an issue that arose which we appreciated.
The attentive service along with the food was outstanding. The tandoori lamb chops were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The murg Labadar was tender and like the translation like butter. The Biryani rice was fluffy and allowed for the sauce of the murg labadar to be layered on the nan for that perfect compliment.
Food was very nice, but byrani quantity was very less, That is not enough at least for a single person.

Food can be prepared with more care, cocktails seem to cut corners. There are more onions in Bhindi masala than bhindi. Usually Bhinidi is garnished with onions. But at Akbar onions are garnished with Bhindi. This happens every time. We pointed many times. When we ask for spicy, the food is not spicy enough. We just go to Akbar for ambience and the owners hospitality. Some staff are very polite and professional.

This place is just the best! The food is outstanding and the service is nothing short of elegant.
The restaurant is good. But there is limited choice for "Vegetarians". There are hardly five or six types of main course vegetarian entres. For the guests who visit the restaurant every week it is the same old stuff. Akbar should be more innovative and prepare more types of vegetarian dishes attract more guests. But the ambiance and atmosphere is good. Hospitality and serving is excellent. They take personal care of all the guests and inquire how the food is etc. If they can add more dishes to the vegetarian section, this restaurant tops all the restaurants in New Jersey.

Restaurant was over crowded. There was no proper waiting list process. Group came after us for given priority over us. Even after seating, there was no service. It was my wife's Birthday - event was spoiled.

One curry was extremely salty. The rest of the food was pretty good, but nothing stood out. The prices are a bit high relative to the quality of the food.

Akbar is a very friendly and family friendly restaurant. Many Indian people frequent the restaurant which make me think this is really authentic. In any case we love it. The service is very friendly but a bit slow. We just go with it and realize we're not eating out we're dining out.

As soon as i showed the Gift certificate, the immediate reply was 'oh! Coupon'. He looked at me as if i came for the free food. Then he went inside to get my order and added the service charge which was not in my previous check. Once i came home, when i opened the box, one item was missing in the combo. it looks like they intentionally took off one item because i used gift certificate.Worst behavior from the Restaurant people. I'll never turn back.
This was the first time we used restaurant.com certificates and it turned out to be an easy process. The food was good and the staff was great.
Good Food, Nice cozy atmosphere & very friendly staff members. They also have banquet hall along with hotel stay so that you can celebrate dance, drink, fabulous dinner & overnight stay , if you don't want to drink & drive.
Saturday lunch buffet was much better than the Sunday dinner buffet we went to the previous weekend. More choices at the Saturday buffet and more meat dishes. They also had Dosa, which they didn't have the previous weekend. They didnt offer samber though for the dosa.
Tandoori chicken is excellent -fish curry not so. Overall excellent sights and sounds. Very busy. Voluntary paid for valet parking.

We highly recommend Akbar. We have gone there many times over the last several years and the food is always excellent. With the current economy we aren't able to eat out as often but the certificates allow us to go on occasion and enjoy the food without spending too much money.

Food with no taste. Asked specifically for well done Naan but Naan were under cooked. Food was Luke warm instead of fresh hot food. Don't waste money.

We call Akbar the Indian Palace. The service is excellent and the food is great. I definately recommend trying it at lease once.
